There are many reasons to spend the best time of the year in the Upper Palatinate. We only show you a few of them.
The river Naab is about 100 meters from the hotel on foot, where anglers can fish undisturbed on a natural water. The Naab is now cla ßified in most parts as a nature reserve and is home to many species of birds and other ways of life. The Naabtal, the 'Grand Canyon' of the Upper Palatinate, offers easy hiking, biking and boat trails that are suitable for beginners and families.
An old saying of pilgrim says: 'The Way of St. James begins at your doorstep'. In fact, 50 m from the hotel, partly along the river Naab, a section of the Upper Palatinate Way of St. James. The entire Upper Palatinate Way of St. James runs from Eslarn (on the Czech border) to Ensdorf about 89 km.
The city of Schwandorf is a large district town with an area of over 120 k㎡ and a population of almost 30,000 inhabitants. The Schwandorf city center can be reached from the hotel on a leisurely walk in about 30-45 minutes or by car, public transport or taxi in about 5-10 minutes, where you can enjoy the view of the old town in the street cafes on the market square can be inspired by the cultural offer.
After the end of lignite mining more than 30 years ago, the Upper Palatinate Lakeland was created in the Upper Palatinate, an attractive tourist region that offers numerous offers for the design of leisure time with its unique landscape. Here guests will find an extensive network of hiking and cycling trails, idyllic fishing spots, a variety of horseback riding and other sports.
The north-south low mountain range along the border between Bavaria and the Czech Republic extends over a length of more than 100 km between the cities of Waldsaßen in the north and Waldmünchen in the south and can be reached from our hotel by car in about 1 hour. Deep valleys, far-reaching views, romantic towns, villages, castles and ruins, secluded churches and chapels as well as numerous other recreational opportunities are the strength of the Upper Palatinate Forest.
In front of the wonderful backdrop of the Steinberger Lake is now the world's largest walk-in wooden ball. You can even see it from our terrace during good visibility. It can be reached from our hotel by car in about 15 minutes or by bike in about 45 minutes.
If you dare to try it, you will hardly be able to avoid it, instead of wandering far away and planning your next discovery tour through the Upper Palatinate.
